How appetite cravings affect your health
Cravings are frequently reported for specific types of foods, including chocolate and foods high in both sugar and fat. Research shows that genetics may be partially responsible for the types of foods we crave. 
Cravings may result from low mood or lack of sleep: it’s our body’s way to make up for the lack of energy and dopamine. 
 
Sleep also regulates the hunger and satiety hormones – ghrelin and leptin. 
In the case of sleep deprivation, there is an abundance of the hunger hormone ghrelin and not enough of the satiety hormone leptin
